What does the perl -pi -e ’s/\cM//’ filename.ext line do? I can't seem to find any information on any of the tags (ex. -pi -e).

Thanks!

Thanks for the tip. After upgrading my debian installation from Etch (4.0) to Lenny (5.0) (cacti version 0.8.6i-3.5 to 0.8.7b-2.1), all my fonts appeared in something like Times New Roman.

Although the paths you noted did not exist on my system, your post led me to:
 $ locate -i '*DejaVuSansMono*'
which turned up various results, including:
 /usr/share/fonts/truetype/ttf-dejavu/DejaVuSansMono-Bold.ttf
 ...
 /usr/share/fonts/truetype/ttf-dejavu/DejaVuSansMono.ttf

After plugging in these paths, my graphs seem *mostly* back to normal, though not quite what they used to be. "Columns" in the legend don't seem to line up correctly: http://www.p14nd4.com/images/20090217-1226-lenny-cacti-rrd.png , but I can live with this much more easily than I could live with the ugly font. Thanks!

Excellent feed! I really enjoy it every day.

I've got a blog dedicated to small-infrastructure systems administration. Please check it out and add it if you feel it belongs.

Hi all,

Just found your site while looking for domain names to run a site just like planetsysadmin :-D

I think the content on my blog is a good fit for your feed. I write about a mix of development and system administration, and where those things overlap. My blog feed is here:

http://www.protocolostomy.com/feed

And the sysadmin category feed is here (if you find that the more dev-centric stuff isn't appropriate)

Thanks!

Hi! I just started a blog specifically targeted at sysadmins of smaller networks. It's available at

http://standalone-sysadmin.blogspot.com/

I think it would fit really well with your readers (and I read your collection enough that I link to you in the side-bar of my site)

Take a look and let me know if you'll include it. Thanks!
